How to select a bearing isolator

A reliable quotation starts with three installation dimensions and a concise description of the machine and operating conditions.

1. Measure the installation envelope

Record the shaft diameter (A), housing bore (B) and available axial space (C). State the measuring method and tolerances when known.

2. Identify the equipment

Provide the equipment type, manufacturer, model, bearing position and mounting orientation. Photos of both sides and a sectional drawing are especially useful.

3. Describe operation

Include shaft speed, minimum and maximum temperature, lubricant and lubrication method, external contamination and any pressure, washdown, flooding or axial movement.

4. Approve the drawing

The final configuration is supplied according to the reviewed and approved drawing. Never manufacture or machine an installation from the three nominal dimensions alone.
